HEALTH + SAFETY

Regular activity, like walking, is hard to beat when it comes to keeping yourself healthy. Walking helps keep weight in check and boosts your mood. As the first and most fundamental form of transportation and physical activity, walking is fun and easy for everybody.

Researchers at the University of Massachusetts medical school found that people who walked every day had 25 percent fewer colds than those who were sedentary.

It’s already a part of everyday life. All you need to do is to learn and apply good technique, walk briskly and for longer and you will lose weight.

One measure to quantify brisk walking is “steps per minute”, and 100 steps per minute is considered moderate intensity or brisk walking. Typically a pace of 5.6 kilometers / hour on a treadmill correlates to brisk walking, for an average person who does not exercise regularly.
