The Red Sea’s first island resort.

Located on a pristine private island, The St. Regis Red Sea Resort presents a compelling vision of exquisite living in the Ummahat archipelago of Saudi Arabia. Designed by Kengo Kuma, Dewan was commissioned as the Executive Architect and Architect of Record for the 90-key St. Regis Red Sea Resort. Our role was to ensure the preservation of the client’s and signature architect’s vision throughout the design stages, leading BIM efforts, coordinating with consultants, obtaining necessary authority approvals, issuing construction documents, and providing advisory support during the construction stage. Additionally, we were responsible for designing the exclusive retreat’s back-of-house elements.

The spectacular natural setting and rich cultural history of the region has shaped the design of the St. Regis Red Sea Resort, with materials inspired by the elements of the pristine island being used throughout. The hotel’s roofs are curved to create a harmonious relationship with the ground, while the island villas emulate surrounding sand dunes. Similarly, the overwater ‘coral villas’ have a spiraled form that provides 360-degree views of the stunning turquoise sea.
