Mohamed Al Assam, chairman and founder of Dewan Architects + Engineers, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Design Middle East Awards 2022.

The award highlights an incredible career in architecture and urban planning spanning more than half a century, and one that is still going strong to this day. Starting Dewan from an Abu Dhabi office in 1984 and completing its first project, the iconic Baniyas Tower four years later, Mohamed has been instrumental in turning the company into a leading multidisciplinary architectural design firm, which today employs close to 500 people globally across eight offices and countless construction sites.

“I am truly humbled to receive this lifetime achievement award,” said Mohamed Al Assam, who was presented with the award at a Dubai gala in November. “I have been fortunate enough to have had a very long and rewarding career working on many projects and with many talented people. This award is not just for me, but for the whole of Dewan, as without the dedication of Dewanees over the years, we would not be where we are today.”
