Winners of the 2022 Dewan Award for Architecture

News

We are proud to reveal the winners of the 2022 Dewan Award Architecture held in association with the Tamayouz Award for Excellence. This year, the challenge was to design a Baghdad rehabilitation center for terrorism victims. After judging entries from more than 34 countries, we are delighted to announce that first place was awarded to Jawdat Khader and Rajab Elshahubi from Jordan.

Their project, inspired by the Mudhifs in Iraq, where visitors are hosted and social life is centered, was “conceived as a healing and gathering place dedicated to physical and spiritual treatment of war survivors through medical and natural therapy as nature relief the mind as much as the body” and truly impressed the judges for its “original approach that engages the site and responds spatially to the city and urban context”.

Congratulations also to our joint runners-up: Unanime Architectes Gulf and Ayman Mohamed Ismail and Aya Mostafa Amin from Egypt for their sterling efforts.

Finally, thank you to everyone who entered the 2022 Dewan Award for Architecture. The standard this year was truly outstanding, and we look forward to launching the next edition in 2023.
