Originating from the village of Pandaravadai in India and at just 19 years of age, Malik decided to follow the footsteps of his father as an NRI (Non Resident Indian) and travelled to UAE, leaving behind his work as a pharmacy clerk.
In UAE, he got a call from Dewan Abu Dhabi for an interview and was hired as an Office Assistant. Malik recalls meeting MD for the first time, “I was so nervous though he was warm and kind, well even until now, every time MD calls for me to do a job. It is just I have too much respect for MD, like a father, I feel pressure as I do not want to fail him.”
As Dewan progressed and opened an office in Dubai, he was transferred. It is also then that he took the initiative to start taking driving classes. After several attempts and encouragement, Malik was able to pass and was appointed Assistant Driver then after promoted to Driver.
For the past 17 years, Malik has considered Dewan as his family in UAE. Very grateful that the company has been a part of his life and family. According to him, his greatest accomplishment was sending his mother to Hajj and that he wouldn’t have done it without the generosity and trust of Dewan to his work. Through his marriage and being blessed with two sons, Malik credits his personal and professional success to Dewan. This is his home and the only family he has known in UAE.
