Dewan is once again returning to exhibit at Cityscape Global in Dubai from September the 6th to the 8th. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the show where Dewan has been a part since the start along with other shows such as Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Engineering News-Record (widely known as ENR) is a weekly magazine that provides news, analysis, data and opinion for the construction industry worldwide. The magazine's subscribers include contractors, project owners, engineers, architects, public works officials and industry suppliers. It covers the design and construction of high-rise buildings, stadiums, airports, long-span bridges, dams, tunnels, power plants, industrial plants, water and wastewater projects, and toxic waste cleanup projects. It also covers the construction industry's financial, legal, regulatory, safety, environmental, management, corporate and labor issues. Engineering News-Record compiles and publishes rankings of the largest construction and engineering firms annually, measured by gross revenues.

Dewan has been ranked 45th internationally in 2016 compared to 50th in 2015, 50th in 2014 and 49th in 2013.
Dewan Architects & Engineers has for the seventh consecutive year received top honors from the prestigious UK industry publication Building Design Magazine. Dewan was ranked 5th for top architectural firms in the Middle East and 45th globally on the magazine's World Architecture 100 list, which profiles the world's largest architectural practices.

The rankings are part of an annual survey commissioned by Building Design ˗ a publication widely recognized as architects' number one destination for news, comment and opinion of more than 2,000 firms worldwide, which are evaluated and ranked based on presence in the sector and region, as well as on the number of architects employed.

We are very proud to be once again featured in this prestigious listing and especially so as we have achieved the following high ranking positions:

The project, “Commercial Tower, Down Town”, is a commercial tower in Downtown Dubai near the Burj Khalifa Tower. The land is directly adjacent to Emaar Square and behind Sofitel Hotel in close proximity to the Dubai Metro Station and Sheikh Zayed Road. The project is intended to be a multi-storey commercially viable, functional and sustainable Commercial Office Tower.

It shall consist of 34 floors of leasable Grade A office accommodation (CAT A Fit-Out), 1 Floor of Meeting and Training Rooms, associated public areas, external space and basement, on-grade and podium car parking. Moreover, the building strives to achieve a LEED Gold Standard in both design and construction; and shall be designed to attract local and international “blue-chip” tenants. Access to the plot is gained by travelling along a service road parallel to the Sheikh Zayed Road.

The project is a super-regional shopping mall development with a net leasable area of approximately 2,000,000 sqft. With an anticipated completion date of q1 2018. The project is located in Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, a master planned mixed use community. Reem island is the single largest land mass in close proximity to the island of Abu Dhabi; a well-connected expansion corridor to the city’s 1.6 million residents.

Congo Kempinski Hotel has a strategic location along the northern bank of the Congo River. It is close to the city center and public transport. The site enjoys pleasant river views and interesting tropical landscape. The project might be connected to a marina in the future, this will enhance the guest's experience in exploring the city through its famous river. The overall plot area is approximately 25,000 sqm phase 1 occupies around 16,487 sqm of the overall plot. Total built-up area for phase 1 is approximately 39,000 sqm excluding parking structures and shall accomodate 144 car park spaces.

The Address Residence Fountain Views is located in Downtown Dubai, with spectacular and unobstructed views of Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building – and Dubai Fountain. Its strategic location places it in the heart of the city’s central district, just minutes away from Dubai’s corporate nexus. Embracing a sense of duality, The Address Residence Fountain Views is a glittering gateway between commercial and residential zones in Downtown Dubai. It represents aesthetically stirring architecture with a delicate balance of solidity and transparency.

The tower features a unique scalloped west façade with a subtle, alternating pattern in the placement of its double-glazed floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies. This approach not only maximises viewing angles, but also creates a fascinating woven texture. The Residence’s corner units enjoy breathtaking 270-degree views; while the tower’s uppermost six levels host extraordinary penthouses with rooftop terraces.

Dewan's award for the Architectural and Engineering Design for the prestigious project of Najaf City Council Headquarters culminated in a design that pays homage to the illustrious positioning of Najaf as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World. The building is located on the main road that links the cities of Najaf and Kufa, near the old site of the governorate building in Najaf. It is surrounded by a number of governmental and educational buildings on a plot size of 24,000 m2.

The project consists of five administrative floors and a three level conference hall, both linked by a common service and parking basement. The design concept adopted two principles: The architectural shape was schematically inspired by the Arabic letter (ن), a character mentioned by the Holy Koran ( ومايسطرون ن. ولاقلم ), and the beginning of the word "City". The second design principle is a cube shape in the heart of the project, which as the most solid geometric form, is a metaphor for strength and stability.

The project is part of the phase 1 development of Meraasland and is centrally located to the planned theme parks with direct access to the adjacent River Walk development. The hotel will be a 4 star Marriott branded hotel with DreamWorks theming and will consist of 500 guest rooms and suites complimented by food & beverage offerings, spa and fitness centre, ballroom and meeting facilities; and extensive landscaping with views across the lagoon, River Walk and the phase 1 theme parks, The hotel land use is approximately 86,000 sqm with a planned property built up area of about 40,000 sqm (excluding basement).

Complementing the open environs of Dubai Motor City with a refreshing walk-through design, Motor City Mall serves as the social centre and retail hub for the entire community. Adjacent to the development’s main pedestrian and vehicular thoroughfares, the mall offers a rich variety of outdoor and indoor experiences with an innovative mix of retail and dining concepts. Its architecture – a series of stepped and gently curving plazas – blends in seamlessly with existing buildings and the surrounding landscape. The appeal is distinctly contemporary, but subtle arabesque influences are softly interwoven to create a culturally engaging public ambience. Featuring top brands and renowned marquees. Motor City Mall is a rewarding destination for adults and children alike. In addition to 39 retail outlets, there are 15 restaurants and cafés, and a -150key hotel – all distributed across the mall’s two floors, with the basement level offering ample car parking.

Dewan hosted is annual Iftar at the Antara Eastern Mangroves Resort in Abu Dhabi last June 26, 2016 which was well attended by past and present Dewanees. Highlighted by a speech from our MD, Mr. Mohamed Al Assam, and a progress presentation by our CEO, Mr. Ammar Al Assam. A video presentation of work environment within the Dubai and Abu Dhabi office was shown while Dewanees shared dinner. To keep the level of energy high and to engage staff and guests, the HR team facilitated a team building activity which was won by two teams in Abu Dhabi lead by Rabah Arbid and Ahmed Hamid.

To beat the summer heat, Dewan contracted Pinkberry Middle East to set up shop in our Dubai office and serve their famous frozen yogurt to our staff on a Thursday afternoon.
